19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.
Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
His counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.
But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serve.
He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to force a final set.
The opponent defended four initial break points in a tight final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
